1) You are afraid that turning cars will hit you because they get so close and THAT gives you a sense of oppresion
2) When you enter a cheap restaurant, you sit down and expect the waiters to come. Finally you notice that it’s all auto-service, you have a hard time finding where the utensils are and where to fill drinks and soups.
3) Squat toilets freak you out!
4) You think the music in the stores are WAY TOO LOUD!
5) You notice that you have more nose dropping due to the bad air
6) You can’t stand body odor, but find out that you cannot escape them!
7) You wonder why friends don’t touch each other while strangers touch you all the time! (Shopping, Metro, buses- too crowed) You are not used to doing the recycling
9) You never keep receipts
10) You hate motorbikes
11) You hate bossy elderlies (don’t really wanna give your sit to people with children, etc. either)
12) You think the music of the trash bus is too loud and annoying
13) You are surprised but you notice that you communicated with “foreigners” WAY MUCH MORE EASILY than you can with local Taiwaneses!!!
14) You think it’s insane how can weather change so drastically (whether within one day or one week)
15) You don’t go to movie theaters anymore
16) Local religions, superstition, and temples actually make you sick (or at least you feel weird!!!)
17) The smell of temple incense reminds you of childhood memory
18) You think ppl speak WAY TOO LOUD either to a friend or in cellphone in public
19) You think sellers are too hypocritical and mechanical
20) You get overwhelmed when ppl on street all want to give you leaflet!
21) You can’t believe how those sellers in night markets can go THAT FAR (meterS) away from their own store and ask YOU if you wanna buy a cup of juice? (You OS: I am just a passer-by that saw your store, and don’t wanna buy anything from YOUR store, and that is exactly why I did NOT get very close to YOUR STORE, so why are you obstructing the traffic!!!? I mean… if I wanted to buy from your store I WOULD GO TO YOUR STORE BY MYSELF! You don’t need to come out THIS FAR! MY GOSH!!!)
22) You are so thankful for 7-11’s
23) You can’t decide which flavor of each food you want
24) You get sick when your peers (High School-college) cares about the ranking of schools and their grades and exams WAY too much

25) Your hand shakes when you write in Chinese. Sometimes you have a hard time remembering how a character looks like, so you write in ???’s instead!

26) You think the news are too local (they don’t have much world news but too much of what has happened to a ramdon lady from XXX county in Taiwan) and too overwhelming at the same time

27) There are too much discount projects by the stores, like you collect stickers and you get sth free… You are not use to that, sometimes you just wanna throw everything away!!!

28) You don’t wanna take off your shoes and change into THEIR slippers when visiting a Taiwanese home= =

29) You don’t like eating in round tables and people sharing food. The worst part comes when they observe which plate you eat more from and mention that to you… you so wanna have the western way, where everyone have their own dish and nobody bother what you eat!

30) You hate using the same bowl that you had your rice to drink soup. You think it is disgusting. You may even want to drink soup before eating the rice!

31) You don’t really believe in the ??/??/??/?? system! You believe that one or two or three yrs of diff isn’t a diff at all!

32) Local peers envies you when they noticed that you did not take the exam THEY have/had to take to get into the school you got into

33) The cellphone payment programs are too complex for you to understand

34) You wanna say sth like “bless you” (quick and simple) when people sneeze. And get annoyed (even offended) when people ask you “So you haven’t gotten enough clothing, right?” or “Do you have a cold?” or even “Watch out!” when YOU sneeze, where you have to “think” before replying them, instead of a quick “Thank You” (You wish they’d just say “bless you” and leave you alone!! (lol)

35) Having dogs is not fun anymore but a REAL duty!!

36) You don’t know how to bargain, and another reason that you don’t bargain is that you think ppl shoudn’t AND the stores shouldn’t expect the buyers to do that and thus don’t raise the price! However, local ppl would think you are just throwing away your money, or that you are rich, or to brag that you’re rich (Of course these are all not true, I just came from a country where ppl don’t bargain!!!)

37) More than ten ppl tell you you have accent in speaking Mandarin

38) You get annoyed when ppl over-emphazise the fact that you know foreign language(s)

39) You don’t care about the Taiwan politics at all. (You just wanna leave, why bother)

40) You can’t believe how ppl can stand in lines for hrs(!) for things such as food or watching Pandas (they are here forever, not that they’ll go back to China after a week? duh! Why do they have to do everything at the same time!?!? I don’t get it…) … anything!!! WOW! (I HATE stading in lines!!!)
