To TCKs “For True”??
In the dedication of the TCK book, there is a line there that confuses me: “And to our children who have taught us so much — TCKs “for true.”
I was wondering if you could al lgive me your interpretation of what the “for true” bit means? Does it mean to stay true to our lifestyle? The lessons we have learned?

“That’s a Liberian expression…a subtle salute to my children’s heritage…I suppose it just means what it sounds like..the are really TCKs…they have lived abroad, have a place that sees the world, have the struggles, that’s all…but mainly it was my African self coming out and giving my kids a silent “fist pump”:)”

In Trindad in the caribbean they say the same thing. “for true” means really or in all honesty.
A: ” is she going leaving for true?”
B: “Yeah, for true”
When I was younger we used to answer such questionswith “no, for fake” when we felt like being sarcastic.

I know that many West Indians migrated from the Caribbean to Liberia and Sierra Leon back in the day, so I am assuming that they brought the term “for true” with them.
