This may be a weird question…
I’ve been thinking about working in either Bahrain or the UAE for a little while. The problem is my Israeli citizenship. From what I’ve read, I won’t be allowed to visit the countries, yet alone work there. But I’m also German. So technically, I could only use my German passport when applying for a visa and the like. The question is: Would that be allowed? Israel apparently doesn’t want me to enter for example Lebanon at all, even if I was using my German passport. On several webpages it said that Bahrain will refuse entry to tourists if they have any visible link with Israel. Now, does that mean I could simply not tell them about my second CS? Feels like lying. I’ve been searching the internet for several hours now but can’t even find proper answers on the embassies’ webpages. So I thought I’d ask here, you guys are most likely to know the answer to this ![]()

Hi
I think the question you’ve got to ask yourself is whether you will have a good time working in those countries with your link to Israel.
Even if you managed to get in with your German passport, what do you think might happen if your Israeli citizenship leaked out one way or the other?
You also need to think of your own safety in view of the current circumstances.
Also if they ask you questions like: Do you have any links to Israel at the airport or have to sign such documents and lie - you can be deported for deception which is a serious offense.
So please think about why you have to do this, despite the fact that you are unwelcome there because of your citizenship status.
You might contact the Embassies and ask honest questions though to find out the extent of the problem. Maybe UAE will be OK if you have a German passport?

Hello Lina,
I lived in Lebanon for 2 years in 01/03 and I can tell you that they take the “Israeli issue” VERY seriously, you could land yourself into SO much trouble you have no idea, you might even be sent to jail, they will most probably think you are a spy, I am not joking, their level of paranoia when it come to Israel is VERY high and very very serious…

If you are an Israeli citizen and/or a practising Jew who is serious about ther faith I recommend you do not travel to any Arab countries other than Egypt & Jordan who have agreements with Israel in regards to travel. Many people do not respect Israel, it’s Jewish citizens, the history of the place, the politics and what it stands for. I agree with Jamila - certain jail, abuse or death is certain - believe that.

Hey guys, thanks for the answers!
Hm, so it’s probably not a good idea. I wouldn’t want to lie, apart from it being an offense, it’d feel wrong. For some reason I had the hope there wouldn’t be a problem if you have another citizenship. Weird, how it never occured to me I might be “unwanted” in these countries. Well, I heard about Lebanon and Syria being really strict, but thought at least Bahrain and UAE might be fine. My dad is Palestinian but his town was cut in half, one side West Bank, the other one Israel. So I always assumed I’d be good to go. But then, Israeli is Israeli I guess. Feels kind of strange to not be able to live in, or even travel to, around 20 countries. I see their point, but it’s still a bummer.
I’ll probably still try the the UAE embassy, and explain the situation.
Cheers again!

Good luck with the UAE embassy. If you’re straight forward with them and they say it’s OK, I’m sure everything will be fine.
