Third Culture Kids in Video, 1st draft

So this is what I was working more towards, but didn’t really get there till now.

If you don’t have Facebook, you probably won’t be able to view it. It’s a 15 minute video.

It’s more of a first go of things, just to see how the style and all that might work out. I didn’t bother with any captions or anything like that.

I just figured they were interesting stories, and shows to some extent the variety of experiences that people can have:

There’s occasionally explicit language, as is the way with students.

Uncle Dan

Daniel Nguyen-Phuoc

Vietnamese in ethnicity, born in Houston, Texas. Lived in Jakarta, Indonesia for 14 years while going to a British International School to finish with the International Baccalaureate. Survived only two years in the University of Michigan before ending up in Switzerland. Graduated from an international (and that's meant in every word) hospitality college. Interesting life, to be sure. But not the only one.

Well, I am talking about 3-minute videos here Daniel :)
This is when you transfer from the a mini dv camera like in the picture directly to the laptop and then edit it and finalize it.

Well, I guess the quality isn’t too important then that might make the job easier ;)

    Significantly easier, believe me, haha.

If you can reduce the size of a 3-minute video to below 50mb, that’s fine by me. Remember, you have to be able to first send it to me, and then I’ll have to use it and upload it again… and other people will have to stream/download it.

So let’s keep it as tight and efficient as possible.

The one I posted above came to a *total* of 146mb, for around 15 minutes of edited footage. So naturally smaller is better. :P

By the way, sendspace is the best file sharing/emailing service I’ve found. If you have a large file to send, use that, it’s more reliable.

Go ahead and send it to tckproject@gmail.com as I’m pretty sure that’s alright with Brice.

Wow, that video was awesome Uncle Dan :D Thanks for sharing it with us. It’s amazing how you can almost feel a link to them, tangible or not, just because you have similar experiences (’weird’ accent, being an oil brat, wanting to keep moving and restlessness after 3 or 4 years, etc.)

I happen to have a camera that I could record my ‘interview’ (if you can call it that when it’s just me) with if you want - are there any particular points or topics you’re interested in, or just my blabble for a minute or two??

Haha, babble is fine, as long as it’s TCK related. :)

Just anything you feel strongly about related to your TCK experience would be terrific.
