    To be honest, I think there is a bit of a standstill in activity at the moment(mainly do to restructuring of organisation), but there should be more chats to come.
    They were definitely wonderful experiences, and unparalelled possibilities to get to know other TCKs(except for meeting up with some, of course).
    I hope you stick around long enough to participate in one. As soon as there are plans for a new series of chats, a notification will be posted.

    I'm so sorry that I won't be able to be there! I'm starting a new job (I am really happy about it!!) and will be working both Saturday and Sunday afternoon (yes, I'm on PST). I will miss you all and I am counting on FB reports from all of you to keep me up to date.

    Brice, I just wanted you to know that I am so happy that TCKid sponsored these chats in January. I have met a lot of wonderful people, and learned from them. I am really grateful to be a part of this community.

    What a great opportunity to meet some new people, and share thoughts on the tremendous impact that Obama's picks for his cabinet will make, and to listen to the expressed hope we have that their innate TCK experience will bring with it the enlightenment this country ( the USA ) not only needs, but in some respect is ready , willing and able to embrace... as he said, "we are the change we have been waiting for" Barack Obama

    Today's Live Chat was fantastic. Our group was very diverse and lively - all continents represented but Antarctica. We all felt so comfortable with each other, and there was so much fun and laughter! We had many moments of mutual recognition - and did I mention - FUN? I now have a bunch of new FaceBook friends, and we all had some terriffic ideas for creating even wider awareness of being TCKs.

    We came away committed to bringing more of our wonderful tribe together and "home".

    Yes, I will most likely be able to attend, but I still cannot say for sure. It'd be nice and probably helpful if I could get some details on how the chat will work -- more specifically technical-wise, in terms of location, programs, logistics, etc.

    I voted for "how we can make a difference in the world" and "reaching out to unidentified TCKs"...because we've all been there and remember how life-changing it was to suddenly become aware. For me, what followed was, "ok...what now?" I'm still in that space now and I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's stories, and ideas for how we can use our amazing experiences, individually and collectively.

    Incidentally I wont be able to chip in for the Saturday session as I have an absolutely lovely 18 hour day planned at work. It's time to reset the garden department for spring (which starts a little earlier here in Florida than in the rest of the US), which means a lot of work to be done.

    Yea - I'm for "depression and addiction" too; and I'd add self esteem into the mix... I know it all sounds very negative and may not be relevant for everyone but like Cynthia I feel like we need to start with the basics. The more we understand about the issues we as a group face, the better we can help others that we reach out to.

  • I voted for "Depression and addiction" because I think that's the fundamental issue that a lot of TCKs face - not knowing who they are and trying very hard to fit themselves in a box. I think once they realize their own identity and the deep problems they seem to think only they are facing I think doing everything else will be easy.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Hi everyone! I am doing the event planning for this particular event :) I'm a TCK of course-- short version of the story I am Romanian and Greek, grew up in Germany & Portugal and now I live in Seattle, WA...

    I wanted to address two important things that have come up:

    1. EVERY topic will EVENTUALLY be covered-- this is the beginning of a chat series so not to worry! But we do need one or two topics to get us started on this first LIVE chat.

    2. At the same time, don't think this will be structured. We will begin with topic discussion but its up to YOU to let the chat run its natural course so don't feel like this will be confined to the topics during the entire time by any means.

    These votes are just to help us have a bit of guidance.... :)

    I'd go for whatever people choose (yes, there's my TCK-ish side showing up - sometimes it's so much easier and more comfortable letting others decide, isn't it?)

    ok, putting my lazyness aside, I think FINDING A SENSE OF BELONGING is a very important topic
    in my experience, it has been what has helped me the most
    "We are each other's country" should be "sub-name" of the topic.

  • I also voted for "How TCKs can make a difference in the world and reach unidentified TCKs" because I think those who are aware that they're TCKs should help out those who are not. TCKs can also offer a lot back to their home communities and give a competitive edge to their employers.

    Discovering this was important for many of us -- we wouldn't be here today if we didn't find out somewhere. There are still many confused unidentified TCKs out there who need to know they're not weird.

    We all need mentors and good friends.

    I believe if we all get together, share ideas, talk about this common purpose we share... not only we'll have fun and make new friends, but we can make a difference together.

    Then we can chat about cats and how awesome Obama is. =D
