TCKs and Racism
I just got this note from my friend Dana and thought I’d share.
“TCK’s experiences can defy many of our North American assumptions about racism. Identity can be stronger with a racial group other than one’s own, and because of this, the North American “rules” of “race” and colour often don’t hold true for the TCK. ‘The race relations in the United States are not recognized by TCK when they return, and thus they have to learn them at a different stage in their lives. They have not been socialized with the racism and definitions of race like most Americans have.’”

So, is this statement true, false or…? If you’re a TCK, how does this measure up in your experience (whether or not you’re from the US)?

Yeah being ethnicly here, nor there sucks! Back in qatar i faced the same dating experince as you. I dated more eastern girls and the racial factor was always present. They couldnt be seen with me in certain areas because i was a white guys. Then some of my relationships would end because they would find out if i was one of the three :
1. part jewish
2.part arab
3 Part muslim
So quite like you, it was a no win situation for me. I sometimes get same rejection from mintories. a friend from that group will introduce me to thire group and it gets realy ugly!
I scare the “fugg” out of people as well. Ill meet up with these harcore chirstian, muslim and jewish people and just run circles around them about relgion.
well lets hope the future years are kinder to ya!

i guess being a TCK makes u think…wow the fact tat the rest of the world actually need to be educated about racism is kinda weird.
because for us it’s like non-existant. If you are a TCK and ur racist…ur simply not going to survive
