TCKID on Wall Street Journal

OK everyone, this is important.

I just received this email from Ruth Van Reken and Paulette Bethel (yes, they both emailed me about it).

“This explains better than I know how to do for a “general” audience what this story is about. If you’re a TCK, please note the invitation to write him with your story…it’s in the little box below..please pass this on to other TCKs you know!!!! Please circulate so he (and Wall Street Journal) know this is a real topic!”

Here’s the article

Send Alan Paul an email at expatlife@dowjones.com. He wants to know “When someone asks you where you’re from, how do you answer the question?” and mention the TCKID.com forum so he’ll know that YES, this is a REAL topic and TCKS are out there.

If you sent him an email, please reply to this thread so we know who sent one!

I wrote to him, not an essay though. I’ve been writing a lot lately, so kept it relatively brief…

I will write him a short synopsis of my wanderings as an Air Force brat and retired Army officer, but I am interested in seeing what my son - whose mother is Korean, and who has lived both the brat and civilian versions of TCK - will have to say.

I included my honest thoughts on Obama’s multinational background along with how I would answer the question pertaining to “home.” I hope Mr. Alan Paul will find it helpful. =)
