Hey ya’ll…just wanted to take a few minutes to introduce a super great magazine! This magazine was designed specifically for TCKs from all over the world. The articles are written by TCKs for fellow TCKs. It covers all kinds of topics - and include book reviews (on books written by TCKs), a travel section (called Row 15, Seat D), poetry, and even cartoons (Small World by Andy Kerr - TCK from Spain).

The name of this great magazine is “Among Worlds” and I happen to be the most blessed person in the world cuz I get to be the Editor - and get to read all the articles before anyone else! :-)

Where can you find it? Well…you can go to www.interactionintl.org/amongworlds.asp to see what it is about, and then click on “Store” to order the magazine. You can also read about some of the authors (and some of my posts) at www.amongworlds.blogspot.com.

I am always on the look-out for writers, artists, poets, book-reviewers, etc. so would be more than happy to talk with you should any of you be interested (I sure hope you are as there are some great stories on this site!).

Here are some of the comments we have received (and posted in our “Mail Bag”):

“I read every edition of “Among Worlds” from cover to cover - sometimes with tears in my eyes and an ache in my heart, sometimes with a smile on my lips and a feeling of ‘Yeah - I know exactly what you are talking about!’”

“I was wanting to write and tell you how much I enjoyed the current issue of Among Worlds. I read every word, and the columns brought back so many memories of my funny/embarrassing cultural gaffes. I think it was Deb’s article that listed the different culture types — fascinating to try to see where I used to fit, where people around me fit, and where I fit now. No wonder I’m so uncomfortable!”

“I LOVED the last issue of Among Worlds. I really felt it hit on some key issues for TCKs, ones that haven’t been discussed very much. In my own process of healing and helping others through healing of trauma, I felt this issue was right on the money. Thanks to all the contributors.”

“My friend called me this morning. His first issue of Among Worlds arrived in the mail yesterday. He started looking at it during breakfast this morning, and he didn’t stop reading until he had read the whole magazine. Then he had his wife read a couple of the articles. I heard a lot of emotion in his voice when he called to say “thanks”. I just want you to know that you have made a difference for another TCK.”

“I just received my first issue of Among Worlds magazine, and I LOVE IT! Thank you SO much for this publication.  It really touched my heart in a lot of places.”

“Thanks so much for sending those issues so quickly!  When I saw that they’d arrived, I was so thrilled and ripped open the package to read as much as I could as quickly as I could.”

“I absolutely love your magazine and see it in many ways as a “life line” to understanding myself.”

I think those comments speak for the magazine! I wish I could take credit for all of that - but I must continue eating my share of humble-pie and giving the credit to those who truly deserve it: the authors and my graphic artist! As I said, I get the pleasure of reading the articles first - and then making them look and sound real good on paper (without losing their “voice”).

Thanks Brice for allowing me to do a little promo here for the magazine! Oh…before I forget….it also is a great gift to give a fellow TCK (or a sibling, cousin, parent, etc.)!!!

Hey Margie, glad you’re back on tckid! Good luck with the shipping and everything else, and I hope you’ll take some time to catch your breath. :)

Hey guys, I just ordered the latest issue of the magazine - I’ll write a review when it comes and let everyone know what I think.

My total cost (including shipping to Canada) for 1 issue was $14.55.

As I understand it, “Among Worlds” currently only ships to the US and Canada, right?

Too bad for the rest, I guess, but if/when it becomes possible, I’d love to subscribe over here in Europe! And I’m always willing to write if you’d be willing to read.

Ok, here’s my quick review of the magazine.

I just received my first issue of Among Worlds and my first impression was “Woohoo! TCK stories!” and I think Margie did an excellent job editing the magazine. Thanks Margie!

    Pros:
What I love most about AW is being able to own a physical copy of some very interesting TCK stories. You can easily lend it to someone! It’s convenient and I intend to show it to my friends, especially people who don’t know they’re a TCK yet. It’s a great introduction to it. Even if you don’t intend to subscribe, I highly recommend you buy at least one issue, just so you can keep it in your library. The price is very cheap (less than $10 for one issue including s/h to Canada).

    Cons:
When I ordered my issue, there was a glitch in the system and it overcharged my card for the shipping but I was promptly refunded. (Thanks!). I found the shopping cart experience slightly frustrating because it ordered two issues by default, instead of one, so I had to go back several times to change this. The shopping cart experience could definitely be improved. The magazine itself was great, but I wish I there were more articles, tips and advice on how to deal with certain TCK issues and maybe even a Q&A!

    Bottom line:

4.5 lolcats out of 5. :) Happy cat approves of the magazine. Go get your issue if you haven’t already!

Then you can talk to some of the authors of the magazine who are on TCKID, like Kristina. :)
