Hi All!
I live near Los Angeles, California, and I am wondering if any of you guys are interested in meeting up in LA (Perhaps for the first time? I don’t know if this has been done before).
Please reply with your:
1. Age
2. Current school year/or write if you’re working
3. City you live in
4. Time frame of when you would like to meet up.
5. Also, would there be a specific topic that you would like to discuss during the meeting?I think this would be awesome so we can just talk about the life of being a TCK.

Awesome. It seems that there’s only you so far, so let me know when you arrive.
Hopefully we can get more people to come for a meet-up in LA.
My plan is to meet at a coffee-shop in LA for a few hours, unless someone is kind enough to open their home to us (I would do it myself, but I live one hour away from LA, so it might be far for some people). However, it also depends on where people are situated.

Yes. But people are less social in L.A. than the East Coast or up in Canada so it can be a trial when it comes to meeting folks.

Omar, I was actually thinking about moving to Oregon, just due to cleaner air, and nicer greens.
LA has too much smog.
In terms of people, there’s definitely a lot of people here.

Know of any good Brazilian eatery that’s closer to everyone? I’ve never had Brazilian food before. Only Argentinean, but I don’t know how close it is. Next time, it’s my turn to take you guys to a Malaysian restaurant. =)

Great, I’m free on Tuesday and wednesday evenings and could be available to meet at around 6pm. I am also free on Tueday mornings between 9am and 11:30am starting the week of May 5th. The farmer’s market is fine. I am trying to remember a stand to meet at. I’ll have to get back to you about that. Let me know if any of these times work for you or others who may want to join us.

Today I just found out what a TCK is and that I am one. Im very happy I found a site with similar people. I didnt know there was anything like this. I definitly think this is a good idea, and to a certain degree, a relief.

Hi Guys!
Gwen, you said that you’ll be freer around this month and after. Does that mean you can, on one of the wednesdays, meet up before 5:30p.m.? This is so we can try to fix in some meeting time with MsMerising.
However, it seems that right now, it’s not possible for all to meet up at one time. My proposal:
1. After reading through everyone’s posts, it seems that Gwen, Rose, zam and my schedule can work out on Wednesday evenings. So, why don’t we plan for the 21st of May, around 7:00p.m. in Pasadena (since it’s more of a common ground for the majority)?
Then, next month, or the month after (in July), we meet at an earlier time in another location.
or
2. We meet further towards LA (same date, the 21st of May, but for lunch around 11:00a.m)
Then, same thing, next month, June or in July, we meet in Pasadena at a later time.

Please let me know a) which number choice do you guys prefer, b) is the date ok for you guys (I set it at a later date, so it’s not too sudden for everyone and people can plan for it) and c) if you guys want to make this a regular deal for the benefit of everyone else and those that haven’t been on the forum, but will in the future…do you guys prefer once a month or once every other month. Or, you just want to meet up once. haha.

Let me know when you guys can do the day time in the Hollywood or West side area. I don’t drive so Pasadena is kinda for the bus. A few possible places:
1. Pasadena
2. Anaheim (I’m thinking Downtown Disney, unless there’s an eatery around that’s good)
Any of those two places is good for you? It seems to be kind of in the middle, and they seem to have good places to dine.
However, if you want to share a favourite restaurant, please let me know!
Once I figure out where people are willing to drive to, I’ll pick a more detailed location.

Oregan is really beautiful but in general much more relaxed & smaller than L.A. life.
L.A. has bad smog, crazy traffic & not the greatest restaurants IMO. But seeing as you like Persian/East Indian/Middle Eastern women you will probably dig L.A. more than Oregan - at least for dating lol
Great produce, quirky characters - I love West L.A.. I could definately have this city as my base if I was to be inter-continental…

Hi all again!
Ok, so here’s the plan:
At 7pm, on the 21st of May, we will meet at Inka Trails Peruvian Restaurant in Claremont for dinner. I think this might be a nice way to get together with our international background. The price is not too expensive, but it seems that with the food that we’re getting, from looking at the pictures, the price is good. I’ve never had Peruvian food before, so it would be a great experience.

The website says that it closes at 9pm, so, if we still want to talk, we can do a short, 6 minutes drive to either the lounge at Hotel Casa 425 (http://www.casa425.com/) or Hip Kitty Jazz and Fondue (http://www.hipkittyjazz.com/). Also, there are lots of other places we can meet up, not only at those two. However, we can talk about that later once everyone’s met up at the restaurant.
Claremont is known for its small, street-front stores and botiques. It is also a very, nice, cozy place to live in, with entertainment and colleges nearby. Also, due to the geographic location of Claremont, it would be more centered and fair for the majority of the people getting to Claremont for the meet.
For those that haven’t given me their e-mail address, you can still give me address if you want an e-mail reminder when the date draws closer.
E-mail addresses given to me will not be abused, and will only be used for occasions such as the TCK-LA meet-up.

I had lunch with a fellow L.A. TCK this week here in L.A. proper. He made a good point about Orange County not being L.A. proper and should probably have it’s own section for meet-ups so folks out West know they can hang out with each other more easily. Orange County is too far for us to drive out too and L.A. is too far out for most O.C. cats to drive to so yeah, it was just a thought to make things easier on everyone.

Hi Guys!
It’s so awesome to see many new members! I apologize for not getting on sooner as real-life took over for a bit. hehe.
The meet-up with Gwen and Rose was awesome and we talked a lot about our background, what we’re currently doing and just issues that only us, TCKs would understand. =) Peruvian food is superb, and is worth checking out.
During the dinner, we talked about the next possible meet up, and we have set the date for June 18th, a Wednesday evening. Due to it being Rose’s last meet-up here, before she heads on back to school, we would like to meet up at a Malaysian near the 605 freeway.
kent and elisa - Good to see the both of you! I’d like to know how far are you guys willing to drive for any meet-ups? And can you guys make Wednesday evenings ’cause we would love to have you guys there. elisa - I read about being available after August, so see you then. =D
Hopefully in July, and I’m pretty sure it’s possible, we’ll move the meet up to Los Angeles itself so as to give equal opportunities for people to meet.
And this is for everyone: If you want to share a cuisine with all of us, please write them on this forum. It will exciting to try them all. =D

Hmm…..it seems that there won’t be a lot of people going to the meet tomorrow. So, we’ll cancel this meet for now. =/

Is there going to be another meet-up anytime? I’m at the USC campus and I just got a car, so I’d be willing to go pretty much all around the downtown area or in a 25/30 mile radius around it.
If you guys want to stick with Wednesday night, the first one that would work for me is December 17th. Friday December 5th, Monday the 8th or Tuesday the 9th would work for me as well. I don’t think we should have it any earlier because of Thanksgiving/not enough time to get people to come.
