Hi, I’m a senior going to college somewhere in America (either CA or TX) Just wondering if there are scholarships for specifically for TCK’s. I’m a MK by the way.

Well, I know there are MK scholarships in the US, so these links should help you get started.

I wish there were ones for TCKs in general, haha.
I wouldn’t be surprised about MK scholarships though. Church organizations like to help out their members.

Hey once one (or a collaboration!) of us manages to put together a bunch of cash, we could set up a TCK scholarship. I always find I never FIT into any of the “must have lived in said country for at least ___ years” criteria. So I have to pay my way just cos I’m a TCK. To save future TCKs such pain, I think that’s a pretty good idea!

Yea the unfortunate life of a TCK, we have to pay for everything :p Why should we pay for our experiences?! Gee…

I wish. But I think we are a bit too ahead of the times. I actually got discriminated at all levels when it came to scholarships. In Canada I had to pay international tuition, even though I lived in Canada longer than some people who were paying the local tuition. In the US when applying for a college I got rejected with a letter stating: “We don’t discriminate based on age, sex, religion, race..etc. except for in the case of international students who apply for financial aid.” The letter went on to state that only 5 international students get financial aid, the others are rejected. Funny, because the US is the country where I spent the longest in going to school (5 years) and I had a US high school degree. (although from overseas) I also applied for a scholarship from my passport country, but I was told that in order to get that I had to be a product of their school system, which I wasnt.
I did get a scholarship to cover my housing when I studied in the Netherlands though. Although there I couldnt qualify for the free public transport given to students, because these are only given to Dutch students or people who are resident in the country for 5 years. (considering that I’ve never actually been resident in one place for that time, that is kinda hard to do for me)

I might have done something retarded and lost my previous comment, so here goes again. However if it appears again…hehe…
