I’m a big fan of SANZAR Rugby.. essentially my top favourite teams have always been, 1. ABs 2. The Bokke 3. The Wallabies 4. Ireland and then if none of these teams are involved then I go for the underdog. i.e Wales in that opening game against England! Impressive by wales, disappointing from england…
To be honest i’m looking forward to the start of the Super 14 than the 6 nations. The rugby i’ve seen in the 6 nations thus far has been a bit disappointing to the neutral. Going to watch the Western Force against the Sharks on Friday in Covent Garden though. Gonna be awesome! COME ON THE FORCE!

Hiya! I posted some of this info in the European meet-up thread regarding 6 Nations- I will be in France for the March 9th match France vs Italy. It’s been hard to watch my favourite underdogs, Italy, biff it in the last two games (close but no cigar, eh!). That no good. It was a good match to watch England v Italy last week despite some of the fatal mistakes (damn that Bortolussi, I want Pez Ramirez BACK!)from the Azzuri. Still no-one better touch my Bergamasco brothers (sigh! sorry, a very girly moment;-) ) It was exciting and impressive to see Wilkenson score his more than 1000th point-in Italian they call him ‘the sniper’ because he’s so good and rarely ever misses his aim. With that said England didn’t play brilliantly but took advantage (rightly so) where Italy missed it’s prime opportunities. As usual. uff! Guess England was still reeling from their game with Wales…Wales are the ones to watch out for and the new French team not to be underestimated at all. They still have the punch despite a whole new line up. As far as 6 Nations are concerned I’d say I also have a soft spot for Ireland although they haven’t been nearly as strong as Wales, France or England.
As for the world cup, goodness, so many to choose from. Obviously All Blacks and South Africa are great to watch, but also the old glory of Argentina (a very different game). But, like AlastairS, I love the underdogs, watching some the smaller nations play and seeing them progress. I guess, one of the reasons I like this game so much is that there is truly much more a sense of team spirit and fair play. Whereas football (soccer) is just become such a disgusting enterprise.

Well we all support the underdogs then!
I was so happy in the world cup with all the Pacific teams doing so incredibly well. There were some really blood pressure raising matches.
I agree with Alastair that Six Nations so far hasn’t been jawdroppingly watchable. Wales and France ARE both looking pretty hot at the moment.
Hope your respective stadium matches are amazing - I am jealous.

Totally agree with you starburst-it was great fun watching the Pacific teams play at the world cup. You just really want to see them make it, don’t you?
Definately looking forward to the match in France- it shall be tense and I may feel a bit thwarted in my loyalties (I’m also part French) but really, I will have to root for Italy. Probably also ‘cos they will get quite a beating from France. We’ll see…
Let’s hope the next round of games will pick-up a bit and bring some more spark back into the matches.
Have no idea where you are at the moment but I assume finding tickets for the UK venues was not very easy?
In Italy it was impossibile. Everything was sold out n less than 2 hours of going on sale.
Personally, that just seems wrong. And to think when I started going to see the 6 Nation matches in Rome back in 2002 you could practically give them away. I had prime seats for 40 euro! Ahh, the good ol’ days. Now that the game’s becoming more and more popular bookies and certain agents are buying them up ‘chalk-a-block’ and selling them to the highest bidders on e-bay. Horrendous! Isn’t that called ’scalping’?
