“A lot of my knowledge about foreign affairs is not what I just studied in school. It’s actually having the knowledge of how ordinary people in these other countries live” How cool is this to have Obama as one of us!
saw this on YAHOO news.
He lived in Indonesia, his mom is from the US,dad was from Africa.

Obama said foreign policy decisions are rooted in an understanding of foreign cultures, and he argued he has a much keener perception than his rivals.

Well I can’t vote LOL But if I do I’d vote for Obama. It used to be between Hilary Clinton and Obama but now I feel she’s not trying hard enough…but then again I haven’t been following that closely so my perception might be skewed :p

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Obama even before he planned to run for president (being from Illinois) and Hilary Clinton so far hasn’t really convinced me yet :p Although I do like the idea of a female president.

I was mixed between Hilary and Obama before, but I’m just getting annoyed at how she’s pushing the issue that she’s a woman. It is a big thing for the US, but I don’t think it should be the only reason people vote for her.

Race and ethnicity shouldn’t be deciding factors for a leader. Nevertheless, it factors into a lot of people’s decisions, and a LOT of people in the US are more sure about a woman president than a “colored” one.

It’s really quite ridiculous, considering how many “colored” leaders the US deals with and nobody seems to mind.

I voted in the last elections from Europe; all you need to know *should* be in here: http://www.fec.gov/votregis/pdf/nvra.pdf

I haven’t read through it, but I had a quick glance and it looks like pretty much the same thing I filled in 4 years ago.

I will absolutely vote for Obama. I read his books and I always supported him before he declared his candidacy. Califpoppy, your post is right on. We need someone to take the US out of the foreign policy and foreign image mess it is in now. Obama, much more than Hillary, is the person to do that - he actually understand other national ways of thinking on a personal level.

Maybe no one remembers this, but last year Hillary said she would never talk with Ahmadinejad (president of Iran), our “enemy.” Obama said he will never say never - just because another country is against the U.S.’s policies, doesn’t mean that it’s necesarily harmful to talk to their leaders. Everyone jumped all over Obama, said he’d made a big mistake, it’s dangerous to talk to our enemies and make promises he won’t keep, etc. But I agree with Obama! How is the US ever going to get out of this hole if we call other countries enemies and refuse to talk to their leaders unles they agree with every US policy? Yes, the Iranian leadership is very anti-American, but how would meeting with them be a bad move? It’s pathetic.

Sorry for the long political opinion.
