New TCK from San Francisco
This post has 193 views
Hey All,
I am so glad that I found this site. I grew up (third generation) Foreign Service. I have lived in Venezuela, Canada, Italy (3 different times)Belize, D.C, boarding school in Arizona. I am currently in SF, any other TCKs live here that want to connect? I am now going back to college and majoring in Cross Cultural Communications because I really want to help other TCKs like me with their problems. Believe me, I sure had a lot of those!
What do you think of this post?

Margo, it’s a good quality you have that you would like to help other TCKs. I am sure there are many ways to do so. Maybe I can discuss that with you sometime?
You expressed the interest in having a meet up in SF. Have you checked this page yet? I think some TCKs were planning to meet there earlier.

Hi Miyon,
Thanks for the link, I left a message. In terms of helping other TCKs, I am an adult TCK and have decided that the only way to legitimize my voice is to go back to school and get my degree.(I am in my 40s). I will probably have to design my own degree, as so few universities have my major-which will be either Cross Cultural Communications or Ethnology of TCKs. I think that many of the problems we as TCKs have is as a result of the kids and wives not being prepared adequately, ESPECIALLY when it comes to going to your passport country. And the whole issue of “what is my identity” can last for many years. But I feel very excited about my life and about my course of study! I think TCKs are the best example of Global Citizens, which is what this world so sorely needs. TCKs just need some way to sort out their “issues” so that they can feel more empowered. And happy.
