My TCK animation

Hello everyone,

My name is Grace and I am a Korean TCK who lived in Seoul, LA, Hong Kong, Chicago and currently residing in New York City.

I’m studying animation in graduate school right now and last semester I made a mini-thesis project titled “Listen: A Conversation (TCK story).”
In this animation a conversation between two TCKs reflects the multi-cultured world Third Culture Kids live in. It was a great opportunity to present to my fellow classmates what TCK is all about.

Hope you all enjoy!

Grace

Hahaha or should I say kkk funny video
I'm not Korean but live in Korea and speak a decent amount of Korean.
That conversation is a typical one I could've had with my Korean friends.
My friends and I even came up with a swear word "tok sekki" which actually means egg in the Jeju dialect. But because it has sekki in it and in Jejumal tok means chicken it actually means "you son of a chicken".
    Haha great video.

Grace, I laughed a lot watching this video.
I am a Korean TCK and I found the Korean swear parts funny.
I totally agree that jot-na-ge is not the same thing as sshi-bal. Classic swearwords. I study at a uni in Illinois and one time I was studying in the residential halls and I heard the table struck by a fist and this Korean guy yelling with all his might "Sssshi Baaal."

something Korean international students (especially the guys) can never let go of is probably the cultural use of these classic languages hehe.

I really like this animation. Nice, fun and catches the spirit of the thing. I'd happily volunteer to participate in any future work you do. ^^

    Thank you!
Unless you are fluent in multiple languages, it's hard to translate swear words. All part of being a TCK and being able to cross cultures and languages.

hey grace, i really enjoyed watching your video. i thought the part about swearing in korean was funny... i don't speak korean but it reminded me of friends who spoke korean in high school. i would love to see you make more animations about TCK-ness!

I am Korean TCK too :)
Yeah, I agree about dream apart
The language of my dream depends
    on who I dream about...
Sadly, it's been long time since I dreamt
    in Korean language
It was awesome to see Korean in the
    animation too
U.S. and Korea will be my home always
because there's where my parents and
friends live and will always live
    (mom's at U.S. w/ me and Dad's at Korea)
Kudos to ur animation and good luck!
