Oh music! Dan is going to love this thread. Right now I’m listening to some Korean pop.
Epik High - Fly.
It’s funny how it Korean stuff always starts happy but ends dramatically..
Oh, and if you watch a drama or movie and the main character dies in the end, then you know it’s Korean btw.

Brice is right, here I go. ^^
On the Facebook TCK group forums about a year ago, someone (I met her later in person) posted a song by a Chilean artist which was basically entirely about the TCK feeling of homelessness, rootlessness, and belonging to the world and no one at once. She sings in Spanish, and uses a lot of Chilean slang, but you can look up the lyrics if you like.
Makiza - La Rosa de los Vientos
I also love a German band at the moment, “Wir Sind Helden”. Probably one of the most popular bands in central Europe at the moment, because of their unique and flexible sound, and their really clever and interesting lyrics. While I know plenty of people on here don’t understand German, I’m hoping their sound carries through.
This song I’m linking is one of my favorites, because it’s about how people slot you into categories and characteristics, and assume you’re that way from birth to death. That in itself, fits a large part of the TCK mindset, but it’s also a sort of sad acceptance that sometimes, you just are the way you are.
Wir Sind Helden - Soundso
That’s it for now. I’m not going to list House music unless people ask for my favorites. ^^ This stuff is TCK related, so I think it fits on this forum.

It just struck me as a good idea to post English translated lyrics for the songs above, so here you go:
Makiza - La Rosa de los Vientos
Sometimes I would like to disappear from the map
Go to where I was born, but it is not that easy
The doubt comes over me and doesn’t leave, it sticks like glue
The weight doesn’t go away, makiza is my cape
Sometimes I would like to have wings like birds
Fly through time, where Lautaro was
And forget for a while
That half of my family are very far away
There are days where I complain
There are days where I am ok
There are days where I even laugh about Guantón Loyola
Oh! My friend Lola, if you knew
What it is to be divided, not to know what is your land
Ana la Chola, lost like a rat without a tail
My mother spoke to be about the C.H.I.
In that place far away, where I was born
Where I grew up
And I am not playing at the foreigner if that is what you think
You can not deny where you come from
You have whatever you have, you are from there where you come from
You come from Dinamarca (or from Chiloé)
The world is a big Noah’s Arc
And if I was born far away, I am proud
And if I have aborigianal blood, good, because it is beautiful
I am a globe trotter, without a fixed course I am based
In the place where I find myself landing, that is my world!
I am from the north, from the south, the west, the east
A traveller without address, without a name, without an I.D.
A Ulyseis without promised land,
I created my own modern odysey
Making the way as I walk,
Because of this I do not have a flag representing me
My name does that job, the important thing is what I feel
Value a man by the quality of his work
The earth is so big and one is so small
I am only guided by the compass
We are children of the compass
(I come from other latitudes)
Since I was a girl, I knew the way of the road
I am not gonna stop and I am not gonna shut-up
Wherever I find myself, I don’t forget my roots
The countries in which I have lived have united their differences
So that I can characterise my personality
To be a person of quality, the warmth of the truth
It protects me, prepares me to raise my wings
Protects me like a bullet-proof vest
The world pierces my soul, I request
A minute to reflect on what I have lived
The towns in which I have lived
The people which whom I have shared
I have been the one to leave, to cross
Thousands of kilometres in all directions
I measure the importance of my experiences
In my existence, encouters and coincidences
When you ask me which sector I represent
I respond in truth, that I don’t understand
The feeling of being bound to a district
On the contrary it is necessary to leave it not to be marginalised
I am a citizen of planet earth
A human being that does not believe in borders
As Squat, Cenzi and Anita always lived outside
No matter brothers, it is not because I wanted it that way
But my place is as much here as there
The four corners of the earth, four faces
You will see that nationality is not a big deal
Instead spin with the wind like the Rose
We are the children of the ‘rose of the wind’ (compass)
Wir Sind Helden - Soundso
Sie wissen genau, wer du bist - Du bist uns so einer
Sie sagen es so, wie es ist - So gut kennt dich keiner
They know exactly who you are - To us, you’re like one of those (*)
They say it like it is - Noone knows you as well as they do
Und zwar bist du vom Wesen so und so - So und so! So irgendwie!
Verstehen sie dich, dass macht sie froh - So einer ändert sich nie
Namely your nature is like that and that - That and that! Somehow like that!
When they understand you, it makes them happy - Someone like that never changes
[Refrain]
Aber nichts davon bestimmt dich, weißt du
Nichts davon verglimmt nicht mit der Zeit
But nothing of that defines you, you know
Nothing of that doesn’t fade with time
Nur du bestimmt nicht, weißt du
Nichts davon ist wirklich
Nichts davon
Only you surely won’t, you know
Nothing of that is real
Nothing of that
So und so
Und sowieso bleibt nichts davon
Like that and that / Anyway (**)
And anyway nothing of it stays
So und so
Und sowieso ist nichts davon
Like that and that / Anyway
And anyway nothing of it is
So und so
Glaub mir, nichts davon
Bist du
Like that and that / Anyway
Believe me, you’re nothing of that
So und so warst du schon immer - Genau so, nur kleiner
Im Alter wird so was nur schlimmer - Genau so, nur alleiner
You’ve always been like that and that - Exactly like that, just smaller
With age it’ll only get worse - Exactly like that, just lonelier
Wie gut, wenn man geliebt wird, wie man ist - So und so, und so allein!
So wie du warst, so wie du bist - Bist das du, musst du das sein?
How nice if you get loved as you are - Like that and that, and so lonely!
As you were, as you are - Is that you, do you have to be that?
[Refrain]
Dein Vater ist froh, weil er weiß, du bist so und so
Und Mutter ist froh, weil sie weiß, du bist so und so
Your father is happy because he knows you’re like that and that
Your mother is happy because she knows you’re like that and that
Dein Haustier ist froh, weil es weiß, du bist so und so,
Dein Lehrer ist froh, weil er weiß, du bist so und so
Your pet is happy because it knows you’re like that and that
Your teacher is happy because he knows you’re like that and that
Die Freunde sind froh, alles klar, du bist so und so
Auf Arbeit: alle froh, alles klar, du bist so und so
Your friends are happy, alright, you’re like that and that
At work: everyone’s happy, alright, you’re like that and that
Zuhause: alle froh, alles klar, du bist so und so
Und du gehst k.o, weil du weißt du bist so und so
du gehst k.o, weil du weißt du bist so und so
At home: everyone’s happy, alright, you’re like that and that
And you break down because you know you’re like that and that
You break down because you know you’re like that and that
Weil du weißt du bist so und so
Nichts davon
Because you know you’re like that and that / anyway
Nothing of it

Music hmmm. Right now I feel like listening to Christmas music…not your regular Christmas music mind you I was feeling like Relient K thier song based on Santa Claus is comming to town is stuck in my head these are the lyrics and it is much much faster then the old one.
Santa Claus is Thumbing to town
Twas the night before Christmas,
And up at the North Pole,
Everybody’s going crazy;
Everything’s out of control.
The toy shop is on fire,
The toys melting on the shelves,
And you can hear Mrs. Claus screaming,
“I warned you never trust those elves”
Unless something drastic happens fast,
Say hello to the ghost of Christmas past.
Because, Rudolph’s puking boughs of holly
Old Saint Nick ain’t all that jolly.
And the sleigh’s in the shop.
‘Cause it’s broken down,
But Christmas won’t stop
‘Cause Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Very much to his disliking,
Santa spent all night hitch-hiking.
With a sign that reads, Ho ho slow down,
Santa Claus is thumbing to town.
Every car just drove right past him,
And sped right out of sight.
Santa never got to ask them
To drive around the world in just one night.
So Kris Kringle started walkin’
Through the snow without his sleigh,
Shed a tear for every stocking
That would be empty Christmas day.
Unless something drastic happens fast,
Say hello to the ghost of Christmas past.
Because, Rudolph’s puking boughs of holly
Old Saint Nick ain’t all that jolly.
And the sleigh’s in the shop
‘Cause it’s broken down,
But Christmas won’t stop
‘Cause Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Santa Claus is thumbing to town (uh-oh!)
Very much to his disliking,
Santa spent all night hitch-hiking.
With a sign that reads, Ho ho slow down,
Santa Claus is thumbing to town,
Santa Claus is thumbing to town.

lol Hi again..
good point, Brice.
Koreans are the most romantic people. You know a show is Korean when you see a love triangle, or the main character’s dies, or the main character’s love dies, and so on. I have not watched many Korean dramas or movies in the last seven years, mostly because they’re too predictable and unrealistic.
They’re fun to watch once in a while, but i get tired of the same story over and over. I am more into American TV shows.
i don’t often listen to k-pop. Oh,Epik high is quite popular in Korea

Strangely enough, My music taste has changed about 50 times over the years it seems. I liked classical and brass band music when i was younger as my Dad would listen to it. I liked Kiss, Heavy metal, John Denver, Country, Abba, you name it. I went to Australia on business and a guy there was playing Arabic Egyptian type music and I got to like that. I like most anything apart from some of the modern bands that my wife loves. Greenday for instance, fairly boring after a while. Liked Keane but his songs sound the same after about 10 minutes. I like listening to the radio as there is a variety of music on. Listened more to the tunes rather than the lyrics on a lot of stuff. I tend to have to find the lyrics and read them for a song to make any sense to me.

I love jazz (be-bop). I worship Dizzy Gillespie & Charlie Parker.
I don’t listen to hip-hop, reggae or rap. Just can’t get into it.
I love Mozart.
I listen to rock ‘n roll & pops but it’s not like I love it.

I often tell people I’ll listen to anything as long as it’s good. It’s *mostly* true, though I know I’m biased sometimes.
My first love was techno/trance/house and in ways, it still is. My preferences shifted from Trance to House, though I always, always loved Disco.
I used to like some Hip Hop and Rn’B, but that taste died a *lot* in the US, where it’s overplayed. I don’t mind it when I go out, because it’s good for dancing with people, but I don’t listen to it in my spare time.
When I was a teenager, I liked heavy metal. Sometimes, I still do. It’s changed a lot in the last 10 years though, so I feel like a geezer when I mention it.
As for the rest, I can’t really name artists. I love and play jazz, but not enough to buy CDs and follow artists.
My time in Switzerland has given me a taste for music from a variety of cultures too. I’ve danced and sang to Norwegian, Spanish, Brazilian, Croatian, Bulgarian, Arab, Turkish, Japanese and Indian dance music, though most of the songs I never actually had myself. I hear it and know it.

I love jazz, all jazz….
I pretty much like anything EXCEPT:
1. Gangster Rap
2. Country (except Johnny Cash)
3. Techno/electronica (which sucks for any clubs in europe).
Other than that i’m pretty easy…most music I have is in languages I don’t understand..I like to understand what they’re saying but if the beat is good then it’s good.

Everything and anything.
Pop, rock, country, some dance music is good, a bit of RnB and some Rap songs are okay, but I generally don’t like most. I like canto/mando pop, even though I can’t understand what they’re saying. African kwaito is alright, I guess some songs are definitely better than others. African gospel- ROCKS MY SOCKS.

these songs are mellow and sometimes sad but they remind of me people and places:
1. aqueduct- hardcore days and softcore
“don’t ever ask me where I go…”
2. wir sind helden - denkmal
3. coconut records - west coast. it’s about missing old friends, filmed in Germany
4. shout out louds- my friend and the ink
5. bob dylan - like a rolling stone

Well unlike most folks here, I do enjoy country. Chalk it up to being born in Texas and having been to two of Willy Nelson’s Fourth of July Barbecues. Those were always the big event in Texas, and my parents took us when we could.
I also like a lot of other music, Rap, Rock, Metal, British Hip Hop (can’t stand the american stuff but Akira the Don, Narstie, and Marvin the Martian are great), Happy Hardcore (not actually hardcore, a variant of Techno), Reggaeton, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Jimmy Buffet style beach music (not sure where to stick him), hymns, gospel, and African Spiritual (well only Ladysmith Blacksnake Mambazo if you want to get technical).
Current favorite songs/artists?
I Feel Like Dancing - Tony Wylie and Island (two of my friends from Trinidad are in this Soca band, they played two shows in Florida last year and we had a grand old party every time they came up)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auOuxFE1ZUg
Nessaja - Scooter (hilarious german Techno/Happy Hardcore band, I often wonder if they consider what the lyrics mean when they say this stuff.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wquCCFvbNhI
Back In The Day - Akira the Don (British hip hop at it’s best, except maybe the next song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY3jvUjb_As
Post 9/11 Blues - MC Rizz (Another great British hip hop song, dealing with the new terror obsessed mindset)
