Monterey/Carmel/Santa Cruz TCK/CCK’s
After 3 1/2 years of no travel (outside of my city, lol) we are taking a family vacation!
Since I know I will probably not spend the rest of my life living in L.A. I have decided that since my son is now 4 it is time to get him into travel as well as return to it myself before I flip out, lol. So, I am committed to taking a weekend vacation every 3/4 months somewhere in the U.S. and a 2-4 week vacation every Summer (that one will start next year).
I have decided on Monterey as our first destination during the Labor Day Weekend. One, it reputedly has the best Aquarium in the U.S.. I gave birth so my son in the water, during a storm. He is named after water and he is also born under a water sign. Seeing as I am a Mermaid as well as the goddess Aphrodite - well, a water destination was a no-brainer
There 6-year jellyfish exhibit is coming to a close that weekend so that was a further confirmer. THAN I also recalled they have the annual ReggaeFest there so I was like “Hell yeah - me loooooove sum Boun-ty Kill-ah!”.
Dancehall music, jellyfish - we’re sold. If I could make more money I may take a week and swing by Carmel.
We will be there for sure between August 29 through to September 2nd. If anyone is in the area and would love to hook up, we’d love to meet you! If any San Francisco/Oakland residents are coming down, holla ‘atcha girl?
I identify with the term "Cross-Cultural Kid". Born of Croatian parents, I am the first-generation born outside the "homeland". Being viewed as "Ethnic" in Australia was socially isolating and being moved to more "Anglo" places with every move was very difficult. Moved to Canada when I was 19. My real formative years. Going back to Australia when I was 22 was traumatic. One year later I moved to America where I have been since 2003... I have never lived in a place more than 5 years at a time. I have been asked "where are you from" since as far as I can remember. My accent changes subconsciously in different groups of people. I am not bi-lingual but I pick up languages quickly. I have diverse interests which makes people think I am weird (c'mon, you know you relate lol). I relate to minorities quickly and know many other's peoples customs, culture etc yet am always viewed as an outsider because I also am a minority wherever I go (usually living in minority neighbourhoods where Croatian-Australians do not reside lol). I usually find anyone I form a bond with is also a Cross-Cultural Kid or come from a family that is politically active with a global mindset. I am looking to meet new friends and maybe for once feeling I belong somewhere.. Peace, M

Wow, that’s awesome! You’re giving me some ideas now… except mine involve lolcats and are probably 10x weirder.
