Hello everyone,
My name is Eeva Siljanen and Im from Finland. My parents were missionaries in Jerusalem, Israel so we moved there when I was only 8 months old. Then we lived there for 9 years, moved back to Finland for 5, then back to Israel for 3 years, then back to Finland ( =) its always fun to explain this to new people i meet). Then I moved to England to do a Bachelor’s degree in forensic and medical science (only because I cannot study in Finland, bc even though I speak fluent Finnish, my academic skills are not in the level required). Now Im living in Finland again, but doing a Master’s degree in public health (its a degree offered in english so it suits me well).
Anyhow, when I lived in England a friend introduced me to the book about TCKs, and thats when I first heard the term. It was great to read about other people’s experiences and to know that Im not alone. To be honest I found all the moving back n forth very difficult and I am only now beginning to deal with how it all affected me. However, I would never change my experiences, and while parts of being a TCK were tough, the rest was great. I have friends around the world, and even know when I live in Finland I get along better with foreigners then my fellow citizens.
At the mo Im pretty busy with my studies but on my free time I like to watch movies/ tv series (this great show is on here called Monarch of the Glen, heard of it?), I also love reading, playing the piano, eating yummy foods (especially Indian, Greek, Israeli foods), and doing some sports.
Hope you are all having a great week, greetings from snowy Finland!
