Introducing….

Hi everyone! My name’s Nicola and i’m 26 - i was born to a half Canadian, half English father and a Dutch mother in Elgin, Scotland. So to sum up… i’m a quarter Canadian, a quarter English, half Dutch person who was born in Scotland. I lived there for about a year then moved to Hong Kong for a couple of years. Then we moved back to Scotland and stayed there until I was 6yrs old. We then moved to Oman in the Middle East for 4 years, moving on to Hong Kong again when I was 10. My parents lived there for 10 years but I went to boarding school in England to do my A-levels. I have since lived in a number of places in the North of England - York, Chester, Manchester (for uni), Wakefield and now Leeds where I have been for a couple of years now. My parents have dotted about during this time to Cyprus, Holland, England and now India (in Delhi).

I am definately a TCK - and I love it! But… i do feel very much ‘homeless’ at times - i think the closest place to home is definately HK, problem is if i went back there it probably wouldn’t feel like that any more! I think i have settled a lot more in the past couple of years but i still feel like a bit of a foreigner over here sometimes and get very itchy feet. I also really really miss my school friends and envy people who have a close circle of childhood friends around them, but then at the same time i love the fact that my friends are all over the world!

Anyway - that’s enough about me!

I know how you feel about HK.
I feel the same about the UK. I know it wouldn’t be as lovely as it was because I was a kid, and also because Europe has changed a lot since the 80s and since 9/11…
Well, at least we have our memories! :)
