INFJ

As TCKs, we are inquisitive; if you’re like me at all, you probably enjoy amusing tests etc., specifically, Meyers-Briggs. So I have taken it in several different capacities (knowingly and not, and at different ages etc) and was surprised to see I do get the same thing each time (makes me believe it more too). You may have surmised my ‘classification’ from the subject line. I am a proud INFJ, and I wondered if others of our TCK variety get this more often than others in the world population; is it more common for us?  Obviously this can’t be easily or very scientifically measured, but as INFJ is the most rare type of the 16 possibilities, it occurred to me that we TCKs are similarly rare!

Amy Elizabeth White

Grew up in Louisiana, Ohio, NC, Texas, Florida, Wash St. Kansas, Jamaica, Germany and DC. As an adult I have also lived in Romania, Australia, Colorado and Virginia. Lots of UK connections. At the moment I live in the VA-DC metro area; a quality place but not decisively where I want to live forever. I went to three high schools in three countries; and I know I'm 'better' for it as experiences like this don't grow on trees. I'm an only child, of an Army Officer. I of course love to travel! I was a Peace Corps Volunteer- and I highly recommend it to all Americans with drive and passion. I recently got my MA, and I hope to be in the Dept of State as a Foreign Service Officer someday.

    INFJ!

The articles by Marina Margaret Heiss and Joe Butt were eerily accurate, and also explained why everyone thinks I’m an extrovert, but I know I’m quite reserved. Actually, they explained a LOT of seemingly contradictory stuff I have always perceived about myself. This bit rings so true for me, anybody else?

“at intervals INFJs will suddenly withdraw into themselves, sometimes shutting out even their intimates. This apparent paradox is a necessary escape valve for them, providing both time to rebuild their depleted resources and a filter to prevent the emotional overload to which they are so susceptible as inherent “givers.” As a pattern of behavior, it is perhaps the most confusing aspect of the enigmatic INFJ character to outsiders, and hence the most often misunderstood — particularly by those who have little experience with this rare type.”

My empathy levels are also so high that I have never been able to watch violence on TV or in movies unless it is fleeting, and psychological suspense is almost painful too. My husband can detach and see it as special effects, but I just get sucked in, so my movie going is limited to documentaries and comedies.

@Msmerizing: Woot finally sum1 with sumthing close to mine lol here’s my list of suitable careers lol.

    Psychologist - My favorite subject
Actor - My one and only dream LOL
    Teacher - My ideal job
    Counselor - My ideal job
Politician / Diplomat - LOL i guess i am suitable for this but i don’t really want it because when you are a TCK it’s kind of hard for you to want to represent one country and one country only.
Writer / Journalist - LOL always has been and always will be.
    Scientist - my childhood dream.

so the point is…this quiz is scarily accurate because i haven’t really found anything in the result tat i dunt agree with.

    @ MMMMM

It is interesting. However, one thing I have never felt certain about in life was my true calling…yet I considered all of the above…

1). Politics - Politicians are usually very selfish and have to work hard to maintain relationships to get things to swing in there own direction. I don’t have the patience for such phoniness.

2). Teaching - I thought that is what I eventually wanted to do (teach at a University level). Now I am not so sure I want to deal with all the grading, the papers and all the planning.

3). Social work - I take on people’s issues too deeply so I would find this draining…

4). Fashion merchandise - I get asked by people often if I am a stylist but my spot-on suggestions of what suits them however, it’s very competitive field. I am nervous I am just not “good enough” to make it in this area…

Ah…will I ever find peace about a career choice????

    lol
