FINAL QUESTIONS…
This post has 232 views
If you went back to your home country for tertiary education, do you feel that you could have done better elsewhere?OR
If you did not go back to your home country, do you feel that you could have adapted to your home country’s local curriculum and teaching style?

I’m sure I would have done better at an American university because I could have focused on what I was supposed to do instead of being distracted by language and cultural disabilities.

I think I could have relatively easily adapted going back… Actually I will probably go back for graduate school, but I am glad I did not for undergrad because the university I am in now has provided me with ample opportunities I would not have found elsewhere.

It will be challenging to go back to my home country for undergrad because the technical vocabularies I learned in the U.S. I will have to learn in Korean which means I have to catch up on many years worth of studies. I would have adopted to the teaching style in Korea but the American style suits me better since it is open for students to ask any questions (whereas these questions may be considered “dumb questions” or questions that challenge the authority).

I went back to my home country for tertiary education, but I believe things would have been better in another country. The system, teaching, learning and culture, were fundamentally different from what I had been prepared for and from what I lived. Although I do attribute to the University years’ difficulties many important consequences, I also think that at the end I would have still had to come to terms with my home country - and with all those things that make up a TCK. Perhaps being more grown up, and with a more constructive university experience on one’s shoulders, would have helped… in any case I have no regrets for the choices I made, because I made them in true sincerity.

I don’t know, I think that I made the choices and worked threw them the best I could (which wasn’t very well
) and I stand by them.
I think going “home” could have gone either way, all I can say, I’m glad I didn’t.
Knowing this country (Argentina), seeing the quality of education today and the lax attitude and almost lust for ignorance…I reiterate, I’m glad I didn’t.
