My husband and I are trying to find ways to meet and get together with fellow TCKs in the San Francisco area.  Is there a group that gets together around here?  Any suggestions for people to contact?  Any ideas would be welcome.   Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Paula and Kevin

    Hi guys.

My name is young kwon and helen is my western or christian name. I was born in S. Korea, lived in Peru(3 years), Korea(2 years), Brazil(2 years), Korea (12 years), and then in the U.S. for the last 18 years.
(My father was working in the government trade agency in charge of Latin America.)

While in the U.S. , the nomadic trajectory continued with the excuse of education and career development, but deep down I know I am searching for a new clime when current one becomes familiar and too comfortable.

I stumbled upon the term TCK while searching and contemplating whether I should have a permanent address for my own children. In the end, I came to South Bay and the Valley area.

I would love to meet ATCKs who reside nearby and see if I could possibly connect with you guys. Hopefully so, and I am actually overjoyed to find this forum.

I joined TCKid after this meetup was supposed to take place. Did it?? How many showed up?

I would love to meet other ATCKs in the SF Bay Area. There have GOT to be a bunch of us. I live in Oakland.

    Hello!
Yes, three of us met up over the summer. It was great! But the problem we were having is that people wanted to meet up and then weren’t checking their email, or didn’t follow up. I am an ex-Foreign Service brat, and the people I met with were ex-missionary and the husband grew up in China, but had an American passport. We had lunch, and it was fun. I am glad you responded, I was always perplexed why there were not more people in the Bay Area that were ATCKS like us. I know that they are out there!
Holler back if you want to make a plan to meet up!

I would love to have another meet-up. I can bring at least one other ATCK. Weirdly, we became friends a few years ago through a mutual friend, and much later found out that we were born within 200 miles of each other. Small world.

There is a yahoo groups group called GNSFO (Global Nomads, SFO), which is moderated by Erik Yewell — a really nice thirtysomething guy. I was part of the group for a while, but they are only very occasionally active. Erik has worked hard to get it to fly, but it seems that Global Nomads are not always joiners.

But I am a fortysomething ATCK, based on the Peninsula, and I would be happy to meet up with Bay Area folks, or even host a pot-luck gathering, if we can get a critical mass.
