Bangkok
This post has 158 views
I’m going to Bangkok for the first time in a couple of months!! I’m only there for 6 days but I’m really excited and really want to make the most of it. Anyone have any suggestions on things I should do and places I should see? I’m pretty much open to anything and would like to hear from everyone.
Thanks!

I lived in Thailand for 5 years… [longest country I’ve every lived in].
If you love shopping definitely go to MBK (stands for sumthing else in Thai, not going to try and spell it in english). The World Trade Center, Siam Square, or Emporium. There are tours you can take for like a day and they aren’t that expensive, it will show you a lot about ancient Thai culture. If you love architecture or art that would be a good one. But there are many different tours, so just search online. DEFINITELY go to a couple of Thai restaurants while your there. I loved the food all over bangkok though, so explore… there some amazing italian restaurants (cant remember names since it was like 2 years ago now) and Chinese and Japanese as well.
In terms of site seeing… the internet is going to be your bestfriend, so if you like organized holidays. Use it
Oh and Kao San Road is also a favorite for tourists (it’s a long street). During the day you can buy a lot of things they sell along there, I remember tourists getting their hair braided and sitting at pubs. At night there are clubs that open there as well, though they aren’t the best if your into partying.
Oh and this market called Chutuchak (i think thats how u spell it) has EVERYTHING in it. From getting hena done or tattoos to buying rugs or clothes or china, watever u need. It’s huge though, so try and not get lost
Ok well that’s all I could think of, hope that helps Take care

Oh and for transportation, there are Taxis every where in Bangkok. Literally, and they aren’t that expensive either (depending on where you’re going of course). They start at 35 baht. There is also a skyline… don’t remember how much it costs but it was handy for going in between malls and stuff.

If you have any plans for purchasing jewelry in the near future, then do it while you’re in Thailand. You can get much nicer things for less.
As Selam mentioned the shopping is generally very good for a lot of things there.

Bangkok! My “hometown” LOL
I was there early this year after being away from it for over 10 years.
It’s changed so much that it feels like a different place but it still has a spot in my heart
Salem mentioned taxis, I agree they are everywhere and very convenient. Another public transportation you should definitely take is the subway/MRT. Traffic in Bangkok can get so bad that it’s almost ridiculous to be travelling by a car. I personally think it’s pretty good to get around downtown. If you want to travel further out then taxis are your best bet.
Can you believe I’ve never been to Chatuchak (or JJ as the locals will call it) for the 8years I’ve lived there and only been there the first time this year?? LOL It is a totally awesome place for local shopping. There is another open shopping area that is more geared towards tourists, but if you’re interested you can also check it out. It’s called Suan Lum (I think) Night Bazaar by Lumpini Park.
Also you can check out the temples which are quite extravagant (but I have to say you can see better ones outside of Bangkok). Here are a few things that might interest you and might help you on your online search:
Rose Garden, The Grand Palace, The Floating Market.
Enjoy! I miss Bangkok already!
