I was thinking that I hate when people’s names change when they are in different countries, and that if I were ever to have kids I want to name them something no one can change.
So something that is not like “Julie” (because you can change that to “Julia” in Spanish) And … even they way you say “Julia” in English and Spanish is different…etc.
Anyway, hope it makes sense, I don’t know how else to explain it. And no, I’m not having kids yet nor pregnant lol, just thought about it one of these days… sorry if it’s been done before.
This past weekend I went to visit my friend, and on the way back I had the most fulfilling conversation I’ve had in a LONG while. He is a TCK as well so no surprise there haha.I almost wish we would had met in a normal setting, because we didn’t even remember to ask each other for our names, so no chance of ever keeping a friendship with him etc.
I haven’t travelled by plane much until now (because of college and now having to go to the other side of the country during breaks and although I am in my 3rd year I just had never talk to any of the people that had ever sat next to me.)
So is this “normal” among frequent travelers? Has this happened to you? Should I just get ready for a life of goodbyes to really cool people on planes ON TOP of saying goodbye to my friends??? (okay a bit dramatic but you know what I mean =P)
I’m Mayling, I’m 19, and I just discovered I’m a CCK -which explains a lot haha. I was born in Costa Rica and lived there till I was 9. Then we moved to Nicaragua (where most of my family is from), then at 12 we moved to Los Angeles (and a few places near there afterward). I now go to uni in upstate New York.
Funny that I should find out I’m a CCK in the middle of me trying to get permission from the college to able to spend my last year of school in Argentina and Spain
I’ve always known I had the “restlessness to move” but I never knew it was something common among people, and I love find it out now. I speak Spanish and English, and I’m learning Italian. I’m a Spanish major (literature major since I’m a native speaker) andam getting double minors in Dance, and Latin American Studies. I want to be a translator one day -which will hopefully allow for my global nomadness to continue.
