Introducing yet another travelling soul. I’m Maaike, officially Dutch, but that’s not how I feel. Moved in Gambia, Niger, Zanzibar, Egypt, Cambodia, Netherlands, and England.

Hey everyone,

Just thought I’d make an effort to introduce myself on this online community. I’m Maaike, officially Dutch, but thats not how I feel. Since I was 3 months old, I have moved all over the world: Gambia, Niger, Zanzibar, Egypt, Cambodia, the Netherlands and England, where I am currently doing my bachelor’s degree. It’s amazing to see how many people have actually shared a similar life-style. The last 4 years living in the ‘West’ have made me feel extremely alone. On the surface I adapt to the character and roles that are expected of me. I have made what some consider ‘lots’ of very good Dutch and British friends. But none of them can begin to understand who I really am. It’s thus a relief to find this site, where I hope to interact with people who know exactly what life I’ve lead…
