An International Community… (VIDEO)
What I’ve seen on this site is that a lot of people seem to be alone, or have left their international lifestyles behind somewhat. There’s a feeling that once you’ve left it, it’s gone, and you have to live with the results. And that can be really lonely.
It was that way for me leaving my international school in Jakarta for the US, and it was a lucky break coming to Switzerland and entering a whole new international community.
And since it’s nearing the end of my degree, I decided that for the purposes of memories, recording, and also for my interest in how multicultural communities interact and the benefit they gain out of them, I started doing short video interviews. I’m still working on getting more, and it’s nowhere near finished (considering what other work I have to do), but I worked up a little trailer.
It does my heart good to hear all the different nationalities.
I hope it does for you too.
And since embedding from YouTube doesn’t seem to be working, I’ll post the hyperlink until it does.

Thank you for sharing the video! Some of what they said I could not fully catch due to accents but I could hear a lot of “I am from….” I though that was cool.

Was one of those scenes by any chance filmed in the Youth Hostel in Geneve???? Near the red light district?
If it was, I love that place….lived there for about a month!

Nope, but I know where you mean. I stayed in the Auberge de Jeunesse near the UN building though.
Nah, all of these are pretty much in Brig. I’ll get a new trailer up sometime with everyone I have so far. I got a lot of interviews done since then, and it’s terrific stuff.
I should note that I took some TCK-Specific interviews though, because we have so many here. It’s quite, quite awesome. When I get enough, I’ll make a video of that too.
