7 Things Every TCK Should Know (Free Teleclass with Ruth Van Reken!)

We are very excited to announce our newest offerings for the entire TCK community, kindly sponsored by members of TCKID Private. Since TCKID debuted in November 2007, members have been asking us, “What are some things that you can recommend to help us better understand the TCK experience?

Well, we have been listening to your concerns, and quietly in the background, we have been creating a dynamic program that we hope will excite and encourage provocative dialogue on.

We’ve gathered an impressive list of prominent leaders in the TCK and Cross-Cultural Transition community for a series of intimate and powerful conversations and teleclasses to help you better understand and make practical applications of the gifts of your lived experiences. Adult Third Culture Kids and Cross Culture Kids, Parents, Educators, Counselors or anyone else living and working within our diverse community are welcomed to join us.

These programs will launch in the coming weeks!! In the meanwhile, we are officially announcing them with a special offer of a free 5-part series from our very own, Ruth E. Van Reken, co-author of Third Culture Kids: the Experience of Growing up Among Worlds and Letters Never sent.

I know this might be stupid, but erm, is it set in a certain time zone? Or are the tele classes set for different time zones??

    tckid Says:

Since this will be a live teleclass, it will be set in one time zone. For example, if a teleclass starts at 5PM Eastern U.S and you are on a different time zone, you will have a time zone converter to mark the time that corresponds to your own time zone.

Great one Brice!! I arrived a bit late (sorry…got carried away by the Euro game) and I didn’t get back to my place on time, but I managed to catch a good part of it, which was great =)
It just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, knowing that there are people out there (Dr. Ruth, and you included) who are trying to make a difference!! =)

The first part was an explanation of terminology, i.e. what’s a TCK, what’s a CCK, etc, mostly so if you’re familiar with these terms you might not have missed much and listened to all the best parts…but I’m sure Brice has got a full recording of this which he will surely post in a link later on. :)

    Annette Says:

I found that I was quietly crying much of the time, and I heard tears in other voices too. I didn’t notice the tears sliding down my face until one hit the desk. Wonderful to be with so many people who get it. Wonderful to be able to speak one’s mind and not be thought odd. I look forward to sharing this (podcast, Brice?)with others I know.

For those who were listening, I’m the lucky “Annetta from Oakland” (but it is spelled Annette) who won the coaching session.

Thank you to all who made this rich experience possible.

For those who missed the previous one, there’s another teleconference tomorrow (less than 14 hours left) with Robin Pascoe. A lot of people signed-up, so I’m looking forward to it!
