7 Things Every TCK Should Know (Free Teleclass with Ruth Van Reken!)

We are very excited to announce our newest offerings for the entire TCK community, kindly sponsored by members of TCKID Private. Since TCKID debuted in November 2007, members have been asking us, “What are some things that you can recommend to help us better understand the TCK experience?

Well, we have been listening to your concerns, and quietly in the background, we have been creating a dynamic program that we hope will excite and encourage provocative dialogue on.

We’ve gathered an impressive list of prominent leaders in the TCK and Cross-Cultural Transition community for a series of intimate and powerful conversations and teleclasses to help you better understand and make practical applications of the gifts of your lived experiences. Adult Third Culture Kids and Cross Culture Kids, Parents, Educators, Counselors or anyone else living and working within our diverse community are welcomed to join us.

These programs will launch in the coming weeks!! In the meanwhile, we are officially announcing them with a special offer of a free 5-part series from our very own, Ruth E. Van Reken, co-author of Third Culture Kids: the Experience of Growing up Among Worlds and Letters Never sent.

    Hi Brice -
The 2nd class was very interesting too, and I am looking forward to the next one. It was interesting to learn about the over-involvement response of some parents who brought their children to a new culture. I never understood why my mother became such a control freak, but in light of this information, it makes sense that she was overly involved with and worried about me. I also found it interesting that frequent visits “home” were actually disorienting - I would not have guessed that on my own, though when Robin explainred it, it made sense.
Thank you again for this wonderful opportunity to listen to some real experts in the field. The information helps me to put personal experiences in a wider context. I don’t feel quite so “different”, but rather a part of a much greater, if hidden, group.

You should feel bad for people in Asia Brice! :p And people that are already working :p

No way am I going to be up at 4 am in the morning when I have to go to work on WEEKDAY!!! :p If I wasn’t working then ok.

Yes I am complaining but no matter, if there’s something I can listen to (a recorded version or whatnot) that is still better than nothing. :D

Annetta, thank you for your candor and courage to share your past on Robin’s teleconference.

Parents need to be informed that this is a possibility and I’m glad you raised this issue! If we can only make one parent think about this, then we’ve made a huge difference.

The next teleconference is with Donna Musil, you can get the full story here:

Does anyone know what time the teleconference starts? All it say is that it is on July 8, but no time is given.
    Thanks
